While new housing, economic and industrial developments are driving exponential growth in our community, the Jonathan Alder Local Schools administration team proactively engaged in a facilities master planning process to ensure that our district is prepared for this change.
An anticipated spike in student enrollment from this population influx creates a challenge for JALSD. To successfully accommodate an enrollment increase with adequate resources and appropriately sized facilities, our district partnered with various educational planning experts and members of the Plain City community to develop the master plan.
Our primary goal was to create a master plan that is educationally fantastic, financially responsible, and community-developed. Our approach was collaborative and involved the JALSD community throughout the entire process. We assembled various committees that each played a specific role in the process and engaged community members, students, staff, and administrators.

The schedule below outlines the 1-year planning process that began in January 2024 and concluded in January 2025 with a community-developed facilities master plan recommendation to the JALSD Board of Education. The district is now pursuing a ballot issue to raise funds for the plan in the November 2025 election.
